State in NOT MORE THAN FOUR SENTENCES how important were or are the religious in aferca beliefs and practices in the preservation of African cultures among peoples of African descent in Diaspora.
Religion is the creation of culture and each African community has their own religious practices. Almost all the African people who live in different countries have integrated themselves with the major culture in the countries where they live. The truth is that people who move to live in other countries hold on to their African identity but their next generations mingle with the culture of the country where they live and feel inferior when they practice their religious practices. It’s really important for them to identify themselves with the major culture in order to mingle with all the people in terms of language, education and job. So, in my point of view, it’s ok to get integrated with the major culture of the country where they live but it’s equally important to practice certain customs at home where it would be very personal.
