Philosophy. What are the limitations on the amount of proprty a man can own?

Answer #1

In a modern society, where people have the right to own private property they should have the freedom to buy as much property as they want, as long as it is done within the boundaries of law. However, I also believe that hoarding properties can increase the gap between the rich and the poor. If individuals possessing vast amounts of resources are allowed to own as much property as they desire, it can create a shortage of housing and therefore an sharp incline in prices. For the ordinary folk, this can create hardships. Furthermore, purchasing vast amounts of properties is not a fundamental requirement for one’s existence and neither does a single individual or even his/her family require so much space. Therefore, some restrictions should be placed on the amount of property an individual can own in order to ensure some amount of equal distribution of land resources.
