Josh considered his friendship with Nick to be transient. He had made friends with Nick just so that he wouldn't be alone at his new school. But soon, Nick's nettled and frugal behaviour irritated Josh. Also Josh found new friends. One fine day, Josh decided to repudiate Nick impetuously. Josh lashed out at Nick at school. Immediately , the principal called Nick to his office after corroborating the incident with other pupils and warned him for his incongruous behaviour. Josh followed Nick to principal's office and tried to assuage the punishment that Nick was about to get. Nick then understood the value of his true friend. None of his new friends tried to help him. He embellished his friendship with Josh with a hug and told him how he understood his new friends were avaricious and Josh was his only true friend.
