What were the political and social consequences of the Great Awakening?
The Great awakening is refered to a period in the 17th and 18th century when there was a revival or change in the western/american christian history.
Social consequences or It were mostly religious. The new group of christians which beleived in only few Practical Teachings of the bible came to be known as the new lights, where as others came to called as the old lights.
This had important political consequences later on as the new lights began preaching more Democratic thought unlike the old lights. They started saying the God can be heard by anyone and not just by a king or a queen and that god created everyone as equal so there is no use of hierarchies. This lead to the american revolution and a more Democratic form of government was thus adopted.
