Positive moods may even help to reduce negative feelings toward others.

Sadness can prevent you from thinking about a math problem, because it is irrelevant when compared to the reason for you to be sad. Your brain will be trying to make a plan to solve the reason why you are sad. The same way, happiness can prevent you from seeing problems in your plans, and your brain will be trying to make a plan for you to see the negative endings of what you only see as marvelous.
