Simply put, anxiety means feeling nervous, worried or uneasy about something happening in the present or about to happen in the future. When this feeling of nervousness gets one to become alert, attentive and work harder towards ones goal, it is called facilitating anxiety. For example, feeling motivated to do better and work harder is great feeling and facilitates success.
However when there are heighted and persistent levels of nervousness, anxiousness, worry and uneasiness, it is called debilitating anxiety. Forgetting answers during an exam is a great example to understand debilitating anxiety.
