A problem can be defined as a situation different from the desired goal.

According to cognitive psychology, what makes a problem hard or easy depends on the fact that what kind of cognitive representations is it associated with.If the representation is relatively old the problem is easier to solve and if the representation is relatively new then the problem is difficult to solve.
