What impact did the work of C. Wright Mills have on the behavioral and social sciences and/or on society as a whole?
The American sociologist C. Wright Mills proposed the concept of "sociological imagination". This concept can be regarded as the essence of Sociology or social sciences. This concept enables us to understand the relationship between our personal problems and its connection with the wider society. With the help of this concept, people are able to relate the situations in which they live their daily lives to the local, national, and global societal issues that affect them. For example, I am troubled by the noise of traffic around my house but the concept of sociological imagination allows me to view this from a wider angle. Due to the growing urbanization, the cities are becoming overpopulated as a result more and more traffic is increasing so this noise is not just my problem but vastly a social problem.
