Answer #1

Civic engagement refers to taking an active part in activities for betterment of the community. Civic activities like voting, campaigns and etcetera ensures addressing public concerns and working towards solving issues. It helps making the community a better place to live. The problem faced when individuals do not engage in civic activities is that, the individuals in-charge continue to deal with issues the way they want to. If you want a change, you must be the change. In order to ensure the change; betterment of the society and addressing concerns is extremely important. Every individual is required to take it as a personal responsibility and be involved in politics. The world needs to be a better place to live and it requires every citizen to assume it as their responsibility to do their bit.

The current political environment turns me off politics while also making me pay closer attention to issues. However, instead of ignoring and avoiding the issues, matters must be taken in one’s own hands. Yes, my vote certainly matters. Every vote counts. Thus, that’s why the saying goes, ‘be the change’.
