Trait approach explains the concept of leadership with the necessary traits such as self-confidence, intelligence and sociability. It emphasizes the fact that leaders are not made but they are born. It also should suggests that people with the right combination or blend of these traits make good leaders.

Skills approach to leadership believes that leadership is a skill which could be learnt by anyone. IT says that leaders are not born but made or they themselves emerge as leaders. This leadership approach suggests that a combination of technical, relational, conceptual, decision making and interpersonal communication makes great leaders. It suggests that leadership qualities are continuously learnt and achieved.
