The world health organisation defines health as the state in which there is complete mental, physical as well as social well being of a person and is not only defined by the state in which there is no disease or absence of infirmity.

Challenges in the definition of health provided by WHO are:

  • Lack of operational value
  • Uncertainty in development of cohesive strategies of health
  • The word complete has been used because of which the achievable goals of the definition does not become possible.
