Answer #1

The fundamental difference between ethical relativism and ethical objectisivism lies in assumption of universal standard of morality. More specifically, ethical relativism holds that there are no universally valid moral principles, and that all moral principles are valid relative to culture or individual choice. In contrast, ethical objectivism purports the view that there are fixed and universal moral principles, valid for all people at all times. From my personal perspective, utilitarianism is the most appealing type of ethical objectivism because it holds a rational and pragmatic view of morality. The focus of utilitarianism is on the direct consequence of an act along with a calculated consideration of its overall impact. It therefore takes into account the bigger picture of a single act.
