Formal arguments are not just contradicting or opposing others viewpoints, but, it is presenting arguments in organized manner that are rational and are persuading the readers to change tgeir viewpoint or perception. It should appeal to the logic of the reader than just appearling to the emotions of the reader. Hence, formal arguments needs to be based on facts and evidences. It requires research and analysis of the topic from the part of writers so that they are able to assert, support and defend their claims. This would persuade the readers to take a new perception. Hence, formal arguments must be based on reliable and authentic academic sources. Using non-academic sources are detrimental to formal argument because it make the argument unreliable and will fails the argument to fulfill it's goals.
