Answer #1

Labelling of emotions comes when we think about the emotion that we are feeling. The thought helps us in identifying our emotion and thereafter labelling it. It is important to understand our own emotions be it through labelling or through just introspection of the characteristics of that emotion.

Labelling helps us in understanding our own emotions but sometimes people might get attached with the label of the emotion and tend to feel the same many times, therefore it is important not to get identified with that label as it will further lead to the exaggeration of the emotion that is being experienced and may then become of the part of the personality unconsciously. Example: Labelling oneself as angry may lead to the interpretation that her personality is such and her/his behaviours might change unconsciously to match the personality which she/he labelled as angry.
