Describe adolescent egocentrism. How does the “imaginary audience” and “the personal fable” influence the adolescent’s self-esteem? Demonstrate your understanding of these concepts in your explanation.

Adolescent is the term first used by David Elkind . It is a type of phenomenan in which adolescents unable to distinguish between the two thoughts i.e. their perceptions of what others think of them and what actually others think of them. here comes imaginary audiences in which adolescents imagine that a huge crowds is following them or listening to them .

Personal fable is a self created thought by the adolescents among themselves of thinking that they are unique or special from the crowd. Such thoughts gives them a menta strength to think that their behaviours, way of interactions with the society , intelligencies are highly acceptable to the society. Though it has bad affects too bacause it increase the self confidence in the adolescents and over confidence hampers their activities.For example during exams time if they think of have the feelings of personal fable this may ruin their mental preparations by giving over confidences that studies are completed to the fullest .
