ANS- Two types of American prison models are as follows:-

1. Hierarchical Model- The premise of physical control is ensured. It favors security and custody and it also differentiates between the levels of security. Inmates of prison are classified as minimum security, medium security, and maximum security. A military-style model is used to control inmates.

2. Differentiated Model- Diagnosing criminals and treating criminals by the identification of the cause of the criminal activity and then treatment is prescribed for that cause. Differentiation is done on the basis of age, crime, education, clinical diagnosis, geography, etc.
