CRIMINAL JUSTICE: Compare and contrast the juvenile justice system and the adult criminal case process. List and explain two similarities and four differences between them.
The crimes done by the Youth below the age of becoming a major (that is below 18 years) are brought before Juvenile Justice System. The criminal cases against the majors (above 18 years are tried in the adult courts. The processes of dealing under the juvenile justice system and adukt criminal cases have few similarities and more differences.
Similarities:
1. Both systems address the issue of Rights equally. Rights are like, Right to attorney, Right to confront or Croaa-examine etc.
2. For guilty conviction both the system demand Proof beyond reasonable doubt.
Differences
1. Crimes by the youth are not termed as crimes but delinquencues are dealt accordingly.
2. Juvenile courts are informal and juveniles do not have a Right 5o a public trial by jury.
