Answer #1

Answer- There are various theories of victimization that explains why some people becomes victims of crimes and why others do not. The two main theories of victimization are lifestyle theory and routine activity theory which can be described as follows-

(1) Lifestyle Theory- This theory explains that people are targeted on the basis of their lifestyle choices. These lifestyle choices attract criminal offenders and situations towards them. For example, going out at night alone, excessive drug abuse, living in bad areas are some reasons of criminal activites.

(2) Routine Activity Theory- This theory explains victimizations through a set of situations that affect the routines of people. The availability of suitable targets and the presence of motivated offenders creates a high risk of victimization.

Each of these theories explains that in various situations, an individual may be the victim of theft, violence or abuse. By understanding the concept of these theories, the criminal justice system may take better steps to stop crime and save innocent people.
