Why should a playwright or director be aware of or understand psychology? How is this understanding different for each one (director and playwright)?
A director is like the captain of the ship. It is he who has the control on the journey of the film. A director, demonstrates the scene and the emotions needed for the scene to the actors. A good understanding of the psychology, to portray the right emotions is very much important to him. He/she should not over do or under perform it, otherwise the audience would not be able to connect to it. Understanding of psychology is important, to make the audience feel the right emotion and attitude. Since, each playwright or director has different understanding of psychology, emotions and attitudes, each may have a different style to connect with their audience. Some may do it better, while sone may terribly fail at it.
