Research on gender differences in cognitive tasks has revealed that overall patterns of performance among males and females are far more similar than different, barring a few specific cognitive tasks. As Carol Dweck’s work suggests, purported cognitive differences maybe attributed to differences in cognitive style. Males and females differ based on the way they gather, process and interpret information with females tending to adopt a new helpless attitude in the face of failure linked to the differential socialisation process that males and females undergo.
