Do children often blame the victim for staying and not only putting themselves in danger but also the children? Can this lead to a lack of trust and confidence the victim's parenting?

Children do not empathize or sympathize much. They do not complicate things, they just tell things as it is how they perceive it. If they feel, it is because of the victim, they should surely voice their opinion.

If such happens, it may decrease the confidence in the victim's parenting because of the following reason- The person would feel responsible for the child's safety, as he would see the child as a weak being. So when inflicted with unfortunate situation, due to guilt, the person can lose confidence in his parenting.
