Reinforcer is that stimulus that
increases the chances of a behavior to occur. There are two types
of reinforcer in classical conditioning as:
- Primary reinforcer: Primary
reinforcer is a biological reinforcer that is essential for life.
It is also called unconditional stimulus and behaviors to this do
not require any form of learning. Example- Food, rest, water, sex
etc.
- Secondary reinforcer: Those neutral
stimulus that becomes rewarding when associated with primary
reinforcers are secondary reinforcers. The behavior to these
reinforcers require learning. These are also called conditioned
stimulus. They are vital for daily life. For example- praise,
money, fame etc.
