how to mitigate overconfidence bias using discounting and broad framing
When a person firmly believes in the subjective knowledge about oneself, another person or situation by overlooking the objective information he/ she is considered to have an overconfidence bias. Such people have unreasonable amount of confidence in their abilities and knowledge. Discounting principle is the tendency to attach less potential cause for a behavior when other potential causes are present. This will less the negative feelings followed by a person with overconfidence bias. The person will focus on other causes for failure rather than getting disappointed in oneself. Broad framing is focusing on an entire situation than narrowing it down to simple events. Rather than focusing on a single experience, broader framing helps in mitigating the effects of overconfidence bias too.
