Puberty in adolescents is the hormonal changes that take place in one's body in the stage of adolescence. One's physical body matures, enabling one of sexual reproduction. Sex education is important with adolescents. The topic to be discussed by the counselor is protection. Adoloscents must be specifically asked to use protection. Indulging in sexual activities at a young age is not suggested because the body is not prepared yet. However, in case of involvement in a sexual act, a teenager must be asked to use protection to avoid pregnancy. Pregnancy in teens has become a growing cause of concern in our country.

Adolescents engage in sexual acts mostly to conform in a group. Conformity leads to being influenced by peers. Individuals engage in sexual acts due to peer influences. The pre-frontal cortex does not develop until the age of twenty one. Pre-frontal cortex is responsible in one taking decisions. It is not an individual decision to have sex in teens, however it is majorly influenced by peers.
