Functionalist view society from macro point of view rather than micro. It believes that society can not function if one of the function is not working. Everything is interdependent upon each other.

Hence social media like Facebook would not work if people do not login on websites. They would not able to share their content as these days do business or publicity due to social networks. Anyways if others do not login they would not have any information about upcoming product that the person has posted. This business can also take form of blog or any hobby eg knitting videos..
