Henslin, James and Mae Briggs: Henslin analyzed the elaborate ritual between the doctor, nurse, and patient in desexualizing the environment during pelvic examinations. Mae Briggs was a trained nurse who observed several thousand pelvic examinations. James Henslin analyzed the ritual by using the Dramaturgical method as if the participants were actors involved in a one act, five scene play. The actors/participants were involved in teamwork.

SCENE 1: Reception
SCENE 2: Nurse/patient.
SCENE 3: Exam room: alone.
SCENE 4: Exam room: doctor, nurse, patient.
SCENE 5: Clock out.
