An important concept in modern psychology, stimulus-response
theory is any form of conditioning in which a specific stimulus
comes to be paired with a particular response in the mind of the
subject.
Social cognitive theory is the view that people learn by
watching others. In psychology, it explains personality in terms of
how a person thinks about and responds to one's social
environment.
Learning using social cognitive theory is definitely better and
more effective, since it involves observations and imitations. At my
workplace,I observe how my team members approach a particular
problem, which is different from mine and try to imbibe that in my
own work as well.
Observing others and learning through it makes you retain your
experiences and use them whenever you want.
Another example, when I saw my friend talking about practicing
yoga and it benefits, and also when I saw her sessions,I did learn
the fact that yoga is very effective for your body and she was
feeling so fit and positive about everything. The observation of
this rewarding behaviour made me take up yoga as well and make
myself fit as well, and focus more on my healthy
lifestyle.
