What are the similarities between artificial and human intelligence?
How do you predict that artificial thinking will change our world?
Do you think that scientists will find a way to imitate the complex circuitry of the human brain? Why or why not?
Artificial intelligence is designed to mimic human mental processes and behaviour in machines. In this sense, many of the functions that artificial intelligence aims to carry out are replications of human actions. Like human beings, artificial intelligence is capable of carrying out several higher mental processes, although to a certain degree, such as problem solving, decision making and language processing. In my view, artificial intelligence is already changing the world. Hundreds of jobs such as drivers, radiologists and cashiers are facing substitution with machines in the next five years. These machines offer many advantages over human labour such as speed, accuracy, operational efficiency, 24/7 use etc.
However, I also believe that we are very far from being able to build a machine than truly replicates the complex circuitry of the human brain. Artificial intelligence at best replicates human thought and behaviour, it is incapable of processing information by itself. While preparing these machines, vast amounts of information are fed in even for carrying out a relatively simple act. I would imagine that it would take hundreds, if not thousands of years to be able to develop a machine with an extensive neural network and efficiency such as ours.
