According to the bio psychosocial model, an individuals biology affects one's mental health.

There are three theories within the biological sphere of this model, which are: Trait theory (genes), biochemical theory (neurotransmitters and hormones), and Structural theory (brain structure)

A malfunction in any of the aforementioned areas leads to a dysfunctionality in the individual.

For instance, a dip in the neurotransmitter serotonin can lead to a person into clinical depression. And, damage to parts of the limbic system which is in the temporal lobe, can lead to memory dysfunctionality.
