Rods Cones
The rods are around the outer ring of the retina and are active in dim light. Cones are mostly in the center of your retina. They help you see color and fine detail
They are rod like in structure. They are conical in structure.

The two disorders that differentially affects rods and cones are:

  • Macular degeneration: It is acondition that causes loss of cones in fovea (loose center of vision)
  • Retinitis pigmentosis: This condition affects the loose rods in the peripheral (tunnel vision)
