How does this cultural stereotype affect the person's sexual behavior and any conflict: Men are expected to be the initiators and women are expected to be recipients
Sexual behaviour depends upon climatic, socio-economic & cultural characteristics of a region. Sexual allowance is more related with the religious aspects of culture. Results confirm that most sexually active adults are faithful, especially in Asian countries. In peaceful countries people have more time for erotic preparations whereas in countries where there is more violence prevailing in public life, where more time & energy a society or an individual devotes to violence & fighting the less time & energy there is for sexual activities. This is a typical scenario but it is prevailing in some regions. The culturalist view sexuality in respect of norms & values, aims & principals in life. A cultural programming of the mind differentiates one group from another. In cutures where expression of less emotions is allowed both positive & negative emotions; erotic activities would be lower in these cultures. Whereas in societies where man enjoys more social & economic freedom than woman, there will be higher frequency of sexual contacts due to men's imposition over woman. For example masculine dominance is strong in Indian, Asian & African cultures where female obedience is evident. In western countries there is less variability in sexual activities due to restrictive nature of sexuality in western religions. Whereas Hindu, Muslim & Buddhist attitudes towards sexuality is coparatively more positive. Islam has a more liberal attitude towards marital sex than christianism this due to the fact that it is believed that it is woman's obligation to fulfill the wishes of the man she is married to.
