What would be an example of a learning situation where Hull’s theory does not fit? give references for your answer
Hull gave drive reduction theory.
Components of Hull's theory :
1 Need : a physiological imbalance in the body
2 Drive : a state of tension
3 Goal : an objective that reduces drive or tension
So as per Hulls theory there is a physiological change in the body(need) that creates a state of tension ( drive ) in the body after which the individual performs an activity to accomplish a goal which reduces the drive and eases the tension in the body and satisfies the need.
For example : eating in response to hunger.
However Hulls theory in simple words cannot justify actions of people in situations where there is no drive or tension leading upto the behaviour
Eg : eating when not hungry
drinking when not thirsty
