define Goal-Setting Theory in your own word with and example

Homework Answers

Answer #1

According to goal setting theory, one achieves better results if one sets quality goals for themselves. For example, one is poor in maths and wants to achieve a perfect score on the final exam then as per goal-setting theory, the set goals should be clear and challenging. One should be able to get feedback on their efforts and should be committed towards achieving the goal. So the effective plan would be something like this: I want full marks in the final math exam. I will practice ten math problems every day after school for the next month. My teacher will give me feedback on my practice and how to correct the mistakes. Even if the student does not get full marks on the exam, goal setting theory states that the student will perform much better than had that student made an unclear plan with an easy goal.
