The specific example of how we could use chunking to increase our memory span for letters includes the fact that we can make something more meaningful from a random piece of information to make it more memorable. For example; if we need to remember a list of things such as; figs, lettuce, oranges, apples, and tomatoes, if we create a word out of the first letters (e.g., "FLOAT"), it will be easier to remember the individual items and buy our grocery.
