Pick an extension, adaptation, or spin-off of one of the prominent counseling theories. Why do you think the creator of the altered or enhanced theory made it as opposed to just following the original theory? Include a discussion of one example of how this theory differs from the original.

Operant conditioning is a variation of classical conditioning.

Classical conditioning occurs when you learn to associate two different stimuli. Learning refers to involuntary responses that result from experiences that occur before a response.

Operant conditioning involves changing voluntary behaviour. Behaviour response is followed by reinforcement or punishment. Skinner developed the operant conditioning to understand and help people with behavioural problems and their voluntary actions rather than just creating involuntary responses as in original Pavlov's classical conditioning.
