What is the difference between differential punishment and plain punishment?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
  • Differential-punishment Procedure-Punishing one set of responses and not punishing another set of responses.Differential punishment occurs when different punishments are repeatedly imposed on different groups for the same crime. For example, theft done by males and females would have different punishments. And sometimes exhibiting a desirable response for example,of doing the work which has been given would not be punished but not doing it or doing it incorrectly would lead to punishment.
  • It differs from plain punishment since in punishment all responses are punishment and there is no differentiation between responses or groups of people. Any response which is undesirable will deserve punishment leading to unpleasant outcome. For example,a murder convict whether male or female would get equal punishment.
