The advantages of using qualitative methods over other methods are:

  • Qualitative data are quality and rich data
  • Qualitative data provides depth to the research study
  • Creates openness and simulates people's individual experiences
  • Pre-judgements can be avoided

When we wish to understands meanings, lookat, describes and understand experiences, ideas, beliefs and values, qualitative method is being employed.For example, for understanding why an individual behaves in a particular way or manner, qualitative study may be used.

Informations like personal information, research specific information which otherwise are difficult to collect in any other manner can be collected by interviewing parolees.
