If either the Triarchic Theory or the Theory of Multiple Intelligences is correct, then how should society organize the education of our children? What would school, and teaching, and testing, look like?

Answer #1

Theory of Multiple Intelligences; the traditional concept of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposed eight different intelligences; for accounting for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These include:

  • Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”)
  • Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”)
  • Spatial intelligence (“picture smart”)
  • Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”)
  • Musical intelligence (“music smart”)
  • Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”)
  • Intrapersonal intelligence (“self-smart”)
  • Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”)

Thus the job school and teaching are channelizing the children based on their unique set of intelligence and acumen. For example, children having high Linguistic intelligence should be channelized in the field of literature and language.
