Attitudes and beliefs: Empathy and kindness help understand one self and others to a great extent. When people belonging to different cultures learn to be empathetic toward one another, they begin to see the different aspects of a person’s life. This helps them adapt to different cultures easily.

Knowledge of oneself or rather self-awareness is of utmost importance in understanding oneself and others around. When we become aware of our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings, we begin to comprehend our different emotions and reactions to different people and different situations. This gives a sense of deep understanding of people no matter which cultural background they come from.

Skills: Good communication, both verbal and nonverbal, is the tool for understanding oneself and others. Communicating our ideas and feelings in the correct manner helps reach out to people of different races, religions, and cultures. In the process of communicating our thoughts, we learn more about ourselves each day.
