Elder mistreatment or ill-treating the old is not a common problem in America but it is all around the world. The major concern with elder mistreatment is that it is not reported. Physical abuse is difficult to assess. Most people don't talk about it to others. Differing definitions, under-reporting and poor detection is the major reason why elder mistreatment is difficult to measure and document. There is not enough data that can be collected. Since there are not many cases reported, hence, data can't be collected which leads to difficulty in measuring.
