Ad hominem:
1. The ad hominem is an argumentative fallacy whereby an argument is rebutted by attacking the character of the individual making the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
2. An example of ad hominem would be saying, “You disagree that Islam promotes terrorism because you have many many friends who are Muslims.”
3. The fallacy committed here is that an individual’s opinion of Islam not promoting terrorism is being attacked by his/her personal association with Muslims.
