What do we know about the education and business during the Medieval times in Europe during the years 1100-1500?
What about the merchants or the guilds?
Please respond with a few facts in detail or a 3-4 sentench paragraph.
Only high class people were given access to education and the Church administered it. There was no need for education in small kingdoms but when empires started to emerge, the need for more educated people to maintain the accounts threw the doors of education open to all. Only 5% of the population in the Europe was educated during the middle ages. Ordinary people, however were limited in getting education.
Business was thriving and merchants were considered to be the most important people who traded rare items with people in exchange for other goods or money. The landlords started taxing the merchants more, thus the idea of guilds were born. Guilds were associations consisting of many merchants that paid a sum of money as annual subscription to the landlord in order to conduct their business without any trouble or excess tax.
