Glasser, the founder of reality theory, posits that from the moment of your birth, you are faced with choices. Your needs are the driving force behind the choices that you make and are reflected in your behaviors. What steps are involved in the WDEP System? What is the purpose of this process?
The WDEP system stands for Wants, Doing, Evaluation and Planning. This is a step by step process to ensure that individuals achieve their basic needs with the right choices to bring about action to achieving it.
For example, if an individual wants to stop smoking which is his
Want. He will begin doing things which are in accordance of his
want. Such as keeping more busy, cutting of smoking cues, not
buying packs of cigarettes and so on. This will be his Doing.
After a while he now will evaluate how well the initial choices to
try to smoking are going about. Whether there is progress and
obstacles. He would self-evaluate and recreate his doing if needed.
This is the step of Evaluation. The last step is planning. Where he
will take forth all his choices and plan to stop smoking into
action, into executing it properly and keeping track.
