The big five personality traits is also referred to as the OCEAN model. This would be based on a statistical technique of factor analysis. These five personality traits and their advantages and disadvantages are:

  • openness and experience: these people have a. Appreciation towards art. Openness explains that these people have intellectual curiosity. A disadvantage is that very high degree of opennes could be identified as having improper focus and these people might engage in behaviors of drug taking or other forms of risky behaviors.
  • conscientiousness: these are the people who would be having the tendency to be acting in a dutiful manner manner as well as to be displaying characteristics of self discipline. This would often be perceived as having stubborn or focused people.
  • extraversion: these people would be having higher assertiveness , energetic behaviors or would be having the ability to to find stimulation. These people might also be considered as domineering in cases of high extraversion. In social settings, they would be appearing to be more dominant.
  • agreeableness: this is also referred to as the tendency where a person would be compassionate rather than being cooperative. This condition might not be considered to be as submissive or naive. People having low agreeableness may also be challenging or be competitive.
  • neuroticism: these people would be having the tendency towards psychological stresses. In this conditions a person would be having greater degrees of emotional stability . These people might also have impulse control. People having higher stability might also be having calm personalities.
