Where else might we find Euthyphro-style dilemmas, and why? What does this say about the nature of authority in general and the possibility of disagreement?
The Euthyphro-style dilemma has one of the most confused question which was asked by Socrates to Euthypro, is the pious loved by the Gods because it is pious or is it pious because it is loved by Gods? We can find this in many walks of life today.
Let’s take an example of the military life style. When a superior officer makes a decision and asks his subordinates to follow that order. Now, the question is, is it a right decision, so the officer chose it or because the higher official made decision, so it should be right?
This is also seen in the corporate world where even when we know that some of the decisions taken by the higher officials are wrong, we still follow them because talking about right or wrong to superiors will attack their ego. So we just say, yes boss.
