The Walsh text identified 7 intervention strategies of
Structural Family Therapy. Among them,
- Supporting system strengths : this refers to
the counselor provide compliments about the aspects of family
functioning that are going well.It includes the non-judgemental
comments and empathetic response about the family
- Relabeling : normalizing a problem helps
family members to develop a new point of view about themselves
which is more constructive.
- Problem tracking : it encourages the family to
track its target behaviour between sessions.So that,they can
clearly identify their structural patterns and get accustomed to
working actively on problem solving.
- Teaching stress management skills : it can
enhance self control of the members.So they can manage
tensions.
