For this week's discussion there is no article to read. What I'd like for your to share this week is your thoughts on what your strengths and limitations are when it comes to being a professional "helper". That is, what do you bring to the table that is going to help you be the effective clinician, counselor, therapist, etc, you want to be? What are YOUR strengths that you can utilize to motivate people to make change in some of the most difficult situations? And then, what are some limitations? Are there situations in which you might feel uncomfortable? Something about yourself that you feel might impact your practice?
As a therapist i would like to evaluate my clients first and carry out a detailed session on the first sitting that would make the client comfortable.Time factor is very important as we need to allot more time to understand the client.I would like to have more counselling sessions one to one if needed or invite the client to attend motivational speeches and seminars if possible. As a therapist it may be difficult to follow one form of therapy, more then one can be combined to give a client centred approach to the problem. In this profession time factor is a crucial , we may not be able to devote all our time to just one client.Patience is the key to success.Managing time and effecient talk therapy is the ultimate goal. The number of sessions a client would need would depend on the problems faced and working out a practial solution to his problem.
