As said ,a police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by a state to enforce the law, to protect people, property, and to prevent crime and civil disorders.    Having police personnel in & around the community has become a very positive norm in many of the society& its the essential notion that police personal walking in the community. there fore there are many pro & cons of community policing.

Here we list some of the important pros of community policing:

1) Police brings the community together :A joint effort for cooperation with the community members & the police force, brings closer to each other. So, when both of them work to achieve a common goal, thus, it builds a strong community.

2) A good crime Deterrent :The visibility of the police & the vigilance of the community should be able to deter crime. if criminals should attempt break-ins or other criminal acts once they know they are being watched.

3) Police educates the community : It will help them to be educated regarding their role in crime prevention , reporting & the laws framed in connection to the crimes. The citizens should feel more comfortable when they see a friendly face they recognize. Thus, the Officers of the police force are easier to be approached

4) Commitment to the community :Once people around the community communicate, it will be the basis of fostering stronger ties and sense of responsibility to the community.

LIST OF SOME IMPORTANT CONS OF POLICE :

1)Struggle of power : It might not be possible for all the citizens of the community to be civic minded, Some citizens may engage in community police for the wrong reasons,, in order to fulfill their personal gains.it will encourage a community watch personnel to throw their weight around and get away with it.

2) Creating Deviance : If there is nocrimes in the community, there is no need for this type of action, in some cases the crimes are planted or manufactured. This is where crimes that can be handled or overlooked without the help of the police become the norm for getting community policing.

3) Varied Actions : At times people find it unnecessary to have police presence in the community. This is like having that police is looking for some one & something that is not present there.there. As looking for a suspected citizen that has been suspected of DWI violation or guilty of it. So for this basic reason, it has been considered unnecessary and unconstitutional for some, which might not also work for other people.

Therefore,Community policing has not yet proven to cut down the occurrence of crime in a particular area. & there are no evidences that community policing will not affect the crime level. In fact, there are still many things that should be considered before you can decide to engage in community policing. Such might be based on constitutional rights or even more. Therefore, the pros and cons here should at least give you a quick understanding regarding the topic of community policing.

WORKING OF THE POLICE WITHOUT THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF SEARGEANT :Police supervision is the act of supervising, directing, or overseeing the day-to-day work activities of police officers. In most law enforcement agencies the majority of the policing services provided to the public are provided by uniformed patrol officers and detectives.

THE ROLE OF THE POLICE SERGEANT OR FIRST-LINE SUPERVISOR IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ROLES IN ANY POLICE DEPARTMENT. TRADITIONALLY, THE ROLE HAS BEEN RELEGATED TO A POSITION OF INFERIORITY WITHOUT A CLEAR DEFINITION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND AUTHORITY.

As mentioned in the question to work without the supervision of sergrant , At times the police personal come across the culprits & have to nab the offerder in such cases it is not possible to to take the premission of a Sergeant, & has to supervise the event. but has to catch hold of the offender.there it is not always to seek permission from the seargeant or higher police officers.

NO, its not always that the disadvantages of activity quotas out weigh the advantages as Police always pick up the suspected offenders for their crimes , from them they can have the clues of the offenders this may be considered as the disadvantage for the community.
