Do you believe ethical behavior can be defined and legislated effectively?
The law of any land sets the minimum standard of ethical behavior. Philosophically, ethical behavior is defined as what is good for the society and oneself and establishes the standard of behavior that people should uphold for themselves and one another.Law often upholds and embody ethical principles but law and ethics may not be legislated effectively. In our day to day life, we have seen that jumping the red light in traffic is illegal yet many people do not seem to have any ethical conflict in doing so. In my opinion, the law is more than simply codifying and legislating the ethical norms.
