Explain how the motif of predator and prey functions in this final chapter of the lord of the flies(there is no subject option for language arts).
The motif of predator and prey, where Ralph is the prey and Jack and his is the predator. Jack and his team searches and hunts for Ralp in similar manner as a wild animal would hunt it's prey. They consider Ralph not as a fellow human being but a prey to be hunted. In the wild, animals prey to satisfy their hunger, even the forest people would for the same. But, civilized society members do hunting for entertainment and to satisfy their ego that they are powerful. Similarly, here Jack and his mates are hunting Ralp for the gratification of this power display. Thus, the theme of story that how temporary and limited is man's morality and civilization, is displayed by this final predator and prey motif in the last chapter.
